I don't really have any biscuits hanging around the kitchen. I thought about going to the grocery store for biscotto's, which I love, do a sketch a biscotto and coffee (I have a little experience with coffee cups) but then I saw the dog's treats bag sitting on the counter. The bag isn't doggy treats but doggy biscuits!

Saved by the dog! I could have sketched a treat, or treats, or the bag of treats, but that seemed a little boring. I found this smiling dog. She wanted me to practice her portrait and of course she loves biscuits! Yes, I'll need to do a few more sketches of this doggy.

Ciao!

-jM

JanettMariehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08815349375325854648noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703972405050010962.post-8832176255659478202021-01-02T14:59:00.000-07:002021-01-02T14:59:21.283-07:00Sketchbook Challenge January 2021 Day 2

Teapot Day 2
What better way to start a new year than to do a Sketchbook Challenge for 30 days in January. Ironic: We are under a stay at home order and the title of this painting is “Make Me Another Cup of Coffee”. Indeed, in addition, the date on this painting is DP 4.4.10. DP signifies Daily Painting. Today is 4.4.20.

This 14x18 has been sitting in the unfinished pile in my studio for about two years and it was time for this one to get finished! There are a lot of layers and some of the layers I just had to get over the fear of messing up something that I liked or wanted to save. Sometimes you just have to throw caution to the wind ( or is it wine, 😅) and just do it!

Yesterday was April Fool's Day, I thought this painting was fooling with me because it seemed like the colors were off or dull or something crazy. I just kept at it then I called for help and help helped!
I put the painting in different light (better light) and then... I took off my glasses! My glasses! My new glasses have a really strong grey tint and that was affecting the way I saw the color in the painting!

I almost forgot about this little painting blog until I received a little reminder from Blogger today 😳
The little painting above is part of a show going on at the Saks Fifth Avenue Store at the Fashion Mall here in Indianapolis!
It's on the third floor and Tilly's Tea Room is right there too. So, a little lunch at Tilly's and check out the art!
The show includes art from three artists: painter Laura LaForge, photographer Faith Blackwell and painter me, JanettMarie!
The show is up until Sept 4th, we will be taking it down on Sept 5.
Maybe a photo of the brushes I used would help to get a feel for the size of these little paintings, or my big hand....

Well, as far as 30 paintings in September, I've lost track, but at least the paintings are still coming. I have another "Hope Street" on the work table, stay tuned.
Four more paintings for the 30 paintings in thirty days and four more houses on "Hope Street".

Today being the 9th of September and what I thought was 7 paintings finished, I've discovered that I missed a house. Number 3 is no where to be found. I think I missed on my numbering of paintings finished. Thank goodness I'm a nice person because I'm forgiving myself and moving on! Watch out though, I will sneak one in here and call it number "3".

Have a nice weekend!

A tree swing, flowers, maybe that is a kitty in the window.... I'll do another...

Creating 30 paintings in 30 days, I've decided I don't need to exactly do a painting a day, but do thirty paintings in thirty days. That, I can handle, I hope you can too!
Did I mention that I would be participating in Leslie Saeta's 30 paintings in 30 days of September?

If not, I am and here is painting one.

Poor yellow house needs a swing in the tree and possible a picnic table too.

Also, I purchased some water soluble oil paint today, I'm going to give that medium a try for thirty days. Tomorrow will be Duo Aqua Oil on a surface of my choosing!

Stay tuned,
Hello friends! This painting has been sitting around awhile just waiting for the finishing touches. Last night or was it the night before.... it finally happened, so I will call this "Cousin's" and finished! "Cousin's" because they all originate from the same family of stems. They are all a little different and special in my heart.

This painting was a bit of experimenting, learning and just plain fun.
Have fun this weekend!
