"Dance Espresso!" -Sold

Here is a little painting I've been holding back until the time is right.... well that is now!
I know that little cup wants to dance, but he doesn't have a pair of dancing shoes! Awww....

Another photo from the Open House:
I could not have managed Friday Night without the help of Randy and Ellie... or was it Ellie and Randy...
They switched their name tags, so I'm not sure who is who... ha ha ha.. just kidding!
Yup, they were working and still managed to have a good time... wait! so did I! Here is another photo!
Mary, here is the 72" canvas, not quite finished, but getting closer!

The Open House

Well, I wanted to wait until I had a painting to post, but that could be a while so, here is one little photo from the Open House... This must be a picture from Saturday evening because so many of my little paintings are gone! I sold all of my "itty bitty's"... I guess that is good and bad...
Back to painting, and Myra, I promise, I will show more photos from the Open House, I just have to finish some of my busy work first...

"Spring Hope" -Sold

Hi, this is not really a "little" painting, it is actually a 36" x 24" inspired by a little painting. Remember Morandi's Daffodil?

Another little bit I have is the video clip that Paul Poteet did for our Stutz Open House. Yikes, this is scary, but, yes, this is a bit of "Little JanettMarie". Just for you Myra!!

"Poteet Was Here" -Sold

Yesterday morning, I met a little challenge. Paul Poteet a local "weather man" wanted to interview a Stutz artist. It was a great opportunity to give the Open House a little press, so I was chosen from the many. Lucky, lucky me....  I said okay.
Any way, I showed Paul how to do a "little painting". He really likes to get involved with what he is covering in his interviews..... an artistic adventure!! Of course, I thought we should do a drink of some sort. I mean it was only 11 AM, a good time to drink, eh? I asked if he like cherries or olives, he said "cherries", so a Manhattan it was!

Above is the painting that I did tonight, and below is the painting that Paul did yesterday morning.
After he finished his painting, he ate the cherry, so I set the scene again today, using his discarded cherry stem. See it suggested on the right side? Any way, it was fun and it was my first time showing someone to paint a little painting. Really couldn't tell him everything in one quick interview of course, but it was fun.

I really think he did a nice job, this can't be his first time!

Nice abstract Paul!!

"A Healthy Drink" -Sold

This "itty bitty" is my version of a 'cosmo' and an apple.

Healthy, yes?

Yesterday, my sister Suzie was helping me out in the studio. She's done soo much.... cleaning and arranging for me. She has helped me get ready for the HUGE open house on Friday, so much, that I've had time to paint. Well, last night she came through again and she gessoed two canvases for me. One is 24"x36" and the other... 72"x48"!
Yep, she's a future Picasso!! Just look at that form!! Thanks Martha, for teaching Suzie how to gesso!
I think I owe both of you BIG, along with a long, long list of yes... "others"...

"Itty Bitty Daffodil" -Sold

It's an itty bitty daffodil... Something different today, nope, not the flower, but the medium I used with the oil paint. Safflower oil. I've never used safflower oil before and it's healthy to use. From what I've read, the whites are supposed to stay white as opposed to yellowing over time. The unknown to me at this point is how long it takes to dry. Time will tell. I used it like I use my current medium. We will see... or at least I will see! : )

"Tulip's Last Gasp"

Ooops! I think my composition is off a bit here.... ohhhh, just do another JanettMarie, I tell myself.

This little tulip lasted just about as long as it could, just waiting for me to do a painting of it!
I captured it with my heart!

It's in the trash now, poor tulip.....

"Wild Apple" -Sold

"Wild Apple" was painted tonight with a friend of mine painting along with and observing my painting...... wild!

We were using a "new to me" oil paint by Holbein called Duo Aqua oil colors. That was a new experience for me. Being the stubborn one that I am, I would not let those paints get the best of me. I did as well as I could with my first experience with them. Hmmmmm....  it's pretty wild. : )  I need to tame those Duo Aqua's!

Thanks Kathleen, for the new experience. I think it was good for the both of us. She said she learned a lot, does she know that I too learned a lot? Shhh... don't tell her okay...  wild...

This is apple number 21!! Whew! Old enough to drink! Maybe this one should be Apple Cider!

I know... "Wild Apple Cider"  What do you all think, name change?

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.......

"We're Going to Miss Her"

This daffodil stayed around long enough for me to capture it.

When working on the background of this painting, that really cool Joseph Albers effect happened.
You know the one, where you lay down a color in one area, and then in another and the same color looks different. It's like you get two colors from one! I love that!

"Yesterday's Pear"

This is a pear, I think I should have painted yesterday, but I painted it today, so it has a few brown spots.

Tomorrow, I may need to paint back into "Yesterday's Pear"!  : )
I'm not sure the pear is "grounded".
