"Fat Twosday" --- big #3 -Sold

14"x18" mix media on canvas
Happy Mardi Gras! The festive look of this painting is just right for today, Fat Tuesday in New Orleans.

Not as big as the last painting, but it is bigger than the itty bitty's I painted last month.

Saturday, "monsters" was the theme with the young painters of Cookies and Canvas. I love all the creativity going on here.

A lot of monsters here!
Three monster painters.
Regan with her monster.
Everyone learned what Cyclops means. One-eyed monster.  : )

"Cherry Martini" ---big #2

4 feet by 2 feet mix media on canvas
Big martini anyone? Finished the 4 foot by 2 foot painting I've been talking about since January. And because I know Myra will want to see how big it is I took a photo of the painting leaning against the door of my studio. Since the above photo doesn't give the work justice, I have a close-up or detail of the glass.

"City of Suspended Disbelief" -Sold

40" x 54" mix media on canvas
Painting finished and delivered. Yes, it's a big one at 40 inches by 54 inches and 1.5 inch deep.

If you look closely, on the bottom left side is a tiny house, it's Vicky and John's house. Also in the painting is a milk truck, little did I know that Vicky's daughter drinks 4-5 glasses of milk a day. Wow, how cool it that? Perfect home for this "wobbly buildings" painting.

Below is a photo of the painting in it's new home.

And, did I mention there is glitter in the sky?

"White Martini" --big #1

15"x11" mix media on paper
It's a "White Martini" and it's a bit bigger at 15"x11". This painting is oil paint, oil pastel and glitter on the arches oil paper. I mean like a paper that you're supposed to be able to paint with oil and not have to gesso it first. This is a test. Time will tell how it takes the oil paint. I've painted on paper with oil and no ground before and found the oil bleeds out of the paint into the paper.

Today I had the pleasure of painting for Vivian's birthday party. Vivi is 6 today and most of her friends are 4, 5 and 6. I think we had one 3 year old. This is one of the best age groups I have painted with. They really know how to have fun painting. It was also the first time I've had painters finished their paintings before me, and I was supposed to be teaching them. Who was teaching who today? Lots of fun! Thanks Vivian and Melody (Vivi's Mom).
