Stopped in Time or Time Moves On... -Sold

"Clock Tower"   acrylic on canvas,  8" by 6" by 1.5" deep
And the clock stopped at 8:15. Is that AM or PM? When exactly did the curse hit? Do I need to go back and watch it all again?

This is the clock tower in Storybrooke and one of the Evil Queen's apples.  : )  At least in my little mind...

An apple a day....

"Who's House"

"Who's House"   6" by 8"  acrylic on canvas
Sometime's ya just gotta paint.... so I did. Was fun.

I've been watching that crazy night time drama "Once Upon A Time" and this may be someone's little cottage. I just don't know who!

Thanks for watching!

"Sunday Sorbet"

24" by 8" mixed media on canvas
Tall, narrow and very high-key. There is glitter, metal, graphite and acrylic in this painting.
This was a tough one for me to keep light as I tend to get pretty bold with my color. I slapped that cherry in there with some bright red to satisfy that need of mine, hee, hee.

I think I'm hungry for ice cream now, gelato or maybe sorbet!

Have a lovely day,

"Three Cheers!"

"Three Cheers!"   mixed media on canvas   14" by 18"
Finished? I think it is, I think it is......
Seventeen....? That last painting was not a martini, was it? Well, it could be a martini in a wine glass. Yes, I believe that is it!

Enjoy your martini's, everyday is a celebration!

Continuing on... 16- Little Wine

"Little Wine"   acrylic on canvas   3" by 2"  -Sold
It's a tiny little piece, but a painting none the less.

Sometimes just the right amount of paint can make just the right painting.

Just my opinion.

Enjoy good wine,
JanettMarie

Better than last September! Yes, as I recall, I either didn't event do the challenge last September or I may have signed up and still didn't do it! Yaaa haa haa haaaaaa, finally I've done 50%! Does this make it a 500% improvement over last year? I'm not sure but I like it!  Wow, I'm having a great day! I hope you are too.  : )

"Fifteen in Fifteen" Gin Martini

"Fifteen in Fifteen"  acrylic on paper  7.5" x 5.5"
Yes, I made this with gin for Leigh, it was Sunday after all. Mmmm, it does have a different flavor.

Not sure if you can tell, but this is another "warm" painting, or pigments that lean toward red.

I may not get all 30 paintings finished in the allotted 30 days, but I am having fun that's for sure!

Have a great day!

Cool and Warm Martini's

"Cool Martini"  acrylic on paper  7.5" x 5.5" (I think)
"A Warm Time of Day"  acrylic on paper  7.5" x 5.5" (I think)
The "Cool Martini" painting was done with hansa yellow, alizarin crimson, phthalo blue  and white.

The second painting I used cad yellow medium, cad red medium, ultramarine blue and white.

It was my little exercise today to remind me what I can do with a limited palette and the feeling I can portray with just a few colors!

Fun, fun, fun. I'm counting these as numbers 13 and Fourteen.

"Always remember to smile."

Two More Martini Paintings

"Magical Eleven"  16" by 8", mixed media on canvas -SOLD
"Crazy Martini"  13" by 7", mixed media on yupo paper
A couple of crazy martini paintings here. The bottom painting is on "yupo paper", a plastic surface. My artist buddy Martha Vaught gave a piece of this to me to try and I pushed it pretty hard. I did manage to cause a chunk of paper to rip away, but I just painted back over it!
Detail: Where I ripped a chunk out by accident... oops...
Have a great day!

Number 6 - As Myra would say.....

"Put Some Liquor In It"   mixed media on paper   9" by 8"
Yes, as Myra told me earlier, "Put Some Liquor In It"!

I want to thank Myra, Martine and Jarrod for stopping by with your comments. They really are helpful and keep me on task. Who knew?

Today driving to the studio I was wondering to myself, "What are some of the reasons people drink?" Then I saw a poor kitty that had been hit by a car and thought... that could make someone want to drink, loosing their kitty... but then people drink to celebrate things too, like having a new grand baby... right?

Have a great weekend!

Number Five, on Day Ten

"A Blue One"   mixed media on paper   9" by 8"
This is martini painting number 5. It's on a thin paper so it's a little wrinkly. I plan on mounting this to a better support, I'm hoping it will flatten out nicely because I have five more on the same material.

Have a great day!

Looking for Inspiration?

"What Up!"  14" by 11" acrylic on canvas
This is a painting I did for Cookies & Canvas. It is just fun!

Did you know that August is Artist Appreciation Month?  Who knew? Did you? I didn't know either until Marietta Gregg told me. Marietta is the marketing director for her mother Patience Brewster.

To help celebrate I've been invited to write about an artist or artists that have inspired my work. Well, the more I think about it, I have been inspired by many artists. Top of my list is Robert Henri. I remember the first painting I saw of his. I was intrigued by the way he applied the paint to get such a beautiful portrait with limited and broad brush strokes. Wow.
Robert Henri 1865-1929
Today I stumble upon a little video about a blind artist. Now here is more inspiration, check this out!

"The Three Bird Abodes" and other stuff...

"The Three Bird Abodes" acrylic on canvas  20" x 20"
Hello! What's been going on? It's been a great Summer so far! The above painting was done at  Jane Slivka's workshop at Cheap Joe's in Boone, NC. Great time and a lot of inspiration gained from that week! We painting two 16" by 20" paintings a day.... a day!  Thanks Jane! Thanks Joe!

I don't know how many of you know, I do love to play golf. I've had my challenges this season and a few of them, well, I've done okay. Below is a photo from last weekend's State Tournament in Indiana and I won Low Net Senior! Woo hoo! Sorry Myra... no money earned, just hardware, lol!

Low Net Senior, Indiana Women's Golf Association
One last note for this post. I committed to the Leslie Saeta's 30 paintings in 30 days September 2015. I've signed up in the past for this but didn't follow through.... this year I've decided to paint martini's because I should, so I will! ....and now I've said it out loud on this blog, this means... total commitment!

With that, as my nephew Victor says, "Just remember, always smile".

Enjoy your day,
-JanettMarie

"Second Chance" - Sold

6"x6" acrylic on panel
Do you ever start a painting and it really turns out differently than you thought? This is an example.

It was done from a still life, but the flower was leaning left, not up. I rotated the canvas when I finished the first time and it just did't look right... so I turned it and added the vessel and...
gave myself a second chance!!

Stay warm, it's January!
