Apple Number 40! Crazy looking painting. Myra I produced this background for you and.... ta da! I made my first video! A monster may have been born today! The movie shows you how I got this result!
Be safe this New Year's Eve!

"Celebrate!"
It is the season for celebration! Celebrate that this is not a pear! I'm celebrating that I finished this painting for you today! I think my eyes and my brain are getting tired, so I'm going to stop for the day. I'll be back tomorrow with that apple I started today. It just doesn't look right yet, so I think I will sleep on it. Ooo, maybe that is what I should do... sleep with an apple under my pillow... maybe not.... hmmm... maybe.
This painting is an 8" x 6" acrylic on a canvas panel.
Tomorrow...

PS: I really have a lot to celebrate, it's been a good year and I've met a lot of great people through this blog.
Okay, okay enough, I'm starting to tear up.... : )

"December Pear"
Couldn't help myself...... another pear! How many is that now? Oh my goodness, this is number 25! Guess there's no pear pressure, so they just keep coming forward. I'm working on an apple too, so that will be my next painting to show to you all, of a fruit! I'm beginning to get a little fruity from all of this.
Have you heard of the book "Eat That Frog!", maybe I should eat this pear, it's making me avoid apples!

"Holiday Pear"
A holiday pear from our holiday fruit basket! This one escaped! Not for long though, I haven't had lunch yet!
This is a 6" by 6" acrylic on a canvas panel. The pear is really more of a greenish, starting to turn yellow color, but my free spirit just let all these fun colors enter the picture! A girl's gotta have fun!
Smiles.....

"Looking For The Light" -Sold
This painting is 8" x 6" acrylic on a canvas panel. I worked on four small paintings today and finished two of them for sure. This is one. There is gold paint in this one. Maybe it's the season, I seem to bring out the gold this time of year.
This little painting was scanned into my computer as opposed to using the camera. I'm sitting here working on an image I captured with my camera and having trouble making sure the colors are right and ah hah! Janett, try that new scanner! Oh my, like the Staples ad "that was easy". Now I understand why Myra was keen on using a scanner, it's so good at capturing the real colors! ....wow....
More tomorrow.... thanks Myra...

"Playful Souls" -Sold
Three friends, maybe they are the Mod Squad, going out for the day or night. Maybe they are out Christmas shopping for their friends or each other....
This is acrylic on paper, gold leaf flecks and pieces of acrylic paint "skins" from my palette on paper. I will adhere this to a gallery wrap canvas for the finished piece.
My big event for the day and this piece is.... I scanned this painting instead of photographing it. So many of my blogger buddies seem to scan their paintings, I thought I would try that. I tried it only because today I got a really super duper good deal on a new printer/scanner/copier and of course I had to give it a try!
Be careful always!

"Nice Birthday Combination" -Sold
This itty bitty is a 3" x 2" oil on canvas. Looks a bit abstracted maybe... a little bit...
This I just painted with out much thought, sometimes one needs to do that I think to relieve any tightness that may be creeping in. Don't want to be creepy unless you mean to be creepy, like Lydia Burris means to be creepy sometimes. I digress....
The title for this itty bitty is in honor of my sister George's birthday. Oh, her real name is Joy, but we all know her as George! Happy Birthday my sister George!!
Fun Friday! Yes, be safe!

"Rainier's Inspiration" -Sold
Here it is! Number 38! Wow, this is taking me forever to paint 100 apples. At least I haven't given up.
Another apple, this time painted with acrylic on a small 4" by 4" canvas. Sometimes, I'm looking at these apple paintings and I can't tell if I used acrylic or oil for the paintings. I'll go back to my blog documentation and see what I wrote down. I'm thinking this is a good problem, yes? I think I will go back to some of my subjects I did with acrylic say two years ago and revisit the way I approach the paintings.
I'm just a little apple seed, I hope to be a sapling some day! No maybe I'm a sapling and I hope to be an apple tree some day! La, la, la... hum, hum...
Have a beautiful weekend!

"Two Olives"
Two Olives for a Friday! Yes! Fun Friday! I hope you had fun, I always do! Good food, good friends, good times!
This is a painting I've prepared for the "Wine and Canvas" events in January. Wine and Canvas here supplies the canvas, easel, paint, brushes, apron and artist. I'm one of the artists! It's a great time. I get a group of painters that have never (usually) painted before. They are nervous, I am nervous, but some how we manage to create paintings that are great! I painted four today for the January schedule, maybe I'll show them all.... depends on the paintings I come up with next...
Happy Weekend!!

"Lean On Me" -Sold
An itty bitty still life, a pear, a glass of wine and a bottle I borrowed from Kathleen O'Neil Stevens.
The three of them look a little leany...
I've been browsing through a bunch of artist books, just looking at paintings from the old guys. I think that is where this came from. My little brain just put this together today because it was under the influence of Cezanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Matisse, Schiele, Picasso,Vlaminck, Morandi, Caravaggio, Miro, Degas and Chagall! Thanks Judith! (Judith gave these books to me, but don't tell Randy, he thinks I have too many books now!)
Have a warm day!

"My Pear" -Sold & "Little Green Apple" -Sold
An itty bitty pear. I'm working on a few requests for the holiday season and this is one of them... an itty bitty pear. This pear just happens to be "My Pear", not any other persons, only a JanettMarie, now it's getting crazy up in here.....
In addition to this itty bitty today, I reworked, just a tiny bit, "Little Green Apple"....
Don't worry Myra, I'm still reading my Degas book!

Full Disclosure
This is my first feeble attempt at a ballerina. |
I went to the book store for a book written by Twyla Tharp and I picked up this little jewel for $8. It came with a wooden mannequin! |
To memorize the figure first practice the simple, really simple head. |
The thorax, ummm, yes, I guess that's the breathing area. |
Then practice the pelvic area, yes, pelvis, not Elvis! Although, Elvis... |
Add arms and legs, I almost forgot to draw arms, so I drew a pear. |
Whole body? Hmm... yep, keep practicing jM! |
Well, all of that was yesterday. This morning while showering, I found myself practicing drawings, of these little guys on the shower door. Oh, they're all dried up now! I did secretly attempt another ballerina, shh... maybe she'll come out of the end of my pen yet!

"Homage to Myra"
Homage to Myra by jM |
Myra's sketch that looks so natural. How does she do that? |
Thanks Myra, for the reminder...
-jM
PS a little sketch is better than no sketch...... or is that stretch?
