"Cup Full of Compliments"

12" x12" Mixed Media on Canvas

"Cup Full of Compliments".... This piece was hanging out in my studio and just kept getting compliments from passer-byers, so that is the title it received, a no brainer.

There is some lighter yellow areas in here that I again, could not translate in the photograph very well, but it is a lot of yellow on yellow, and the dark is really dark blue. The darker yellowish areas is gold glitter! Yes, had to add a little shine to the compliments!

For incase anyone is curious, I did finish the series of 100 Coffee Cup paintings in time for the big open house this weekend. The show was two days of a lot of people and wow. We opened Friday night at 5:30 PM through 10:30 PM, then opened again on Saturday at 2 PM through 7 PM. I was a walking zombie last night! I will have photos of the show and the rest of the coffee cups paintings for you this week.

Excuse me now, while I rest... zzzzz.....

"Pour Some More!"

12"x12" mixed media on canvas

Number 76... and counting. This is another of those, well, I used a little bit of oil paint pen so I guess it's a mixed media. Mostly though, it is acrylic. I'll have to start a coffee cup painting with that water soluble oil paint again... oh, what will it be?

Thanks for all the nice comments yesterday you all. Yes, this one would be like my Mom too... "Pour Some More!" She like her coffee. By the way she drinks decaf now...   : )   I should.... but I don't....

"Top It Off!"

12"x12" acrylic on canvas

Here it is! Number 75! Yes, this coffee does need a little topping off, it's gotten so cold I think I see ice. Just kidding...

This painting is a 12" by 12" and painted using acrylic paint and a brush and my fingers. Uh oh, I used and oil paint pen, this needs to be considered a mixed media piece. Hmm.... to change the description or not change the description.  Speaking of descriptions, yesterday's painting I labeled aquamedia. This may be a term that will be added to the dictionary someday. I called it aquamedia because I used acrylic paint and water and I used dried pieces of acrylic that I peeled off of my plastic palette. I figure it's not just acrylic paint from a tube but has materials that water had been used in the process as opposed to oil, or stones or glitter or plates or... you know what I mean... Sometimes, I'll use water soluble pencils and pastels so I'll call that aquamedia too. Maybe I'm using it too loosely, but it did bring up a good question!

I think I will dedicate this painting to my Mother, because she really likes it when the waitress comes around and "tops off" her coffee. Here's to you Mom!

"Last Cup of Coffee"

12"x12" mixed media on canvas

Oh Myra, this one is for your name's sake! This isn't the last coffee cup painting, but it may be the last cup of coffee for the day!

This little painting (well, not that little, it's 12"x12") is a variation of the "ICB Expresso" painting. It started out mostly yellow, then green and all of a sudden... orange appeared!! The process of painting is just so interesting, surprising and fun!

I love the Picasso quote, "If you know exactly what you're going to do, what's the point of doing it? Since you know, there's no interest in it...  It's better to do something else."

Now, maybe just one more cup of coffee!

Number 94! "Feeling the Magic"

12"x12" mixed media on canvas
Can you feel it? Wow, I can, leigh feels it, Tamra feels it, Bonnie, Catherine, Myra, Jane, and on and on and on.... closer baby, closer.

This painting is 12"x12", just had to break loose with a little bigger than the 3"x3" today. This one is considered mixed media because I did use an oil paint pen and a bit of that isopropyl alcohol, hmmm, maybe it's not... hmmm, it's the fixative again!
